Paklenica National Park protects the dramatic Velika and Mala Paklenica gorges, which cut deep into the southern slopes of the Velebit massif. It is Croatia’s foremost rock-climbing destination and also offers well-marked hiking trails through karst scenery and forest up to the Manita peć cave. Its position close to the coast makes it easy to pair a day in the mountains with time by the sea.
Good to know
The main entrance is near Starigrad, and a ticket is required to enter the park. Spring and autumn are the most pleasant seasons for hiking and climbing.
