The Zrmanja Canyon carves as much as 200 metres deep into the karst plateau behind Obrovac. Its emerald-green river threads through the gorge over numerous cascades and waterfalls, making it a favourite for rafting and kayaking. The wild, rocky scenery once served as a backdrop for the classic Winnetou films.
Good to know
Rafting and kayaking trips are usually offered from spring into early summer, when water levels are highest. Sturdy shoes make reaching the riverbanks easier.
