Tulove grede is a striking cluster of jagged rock towers on the southern Velebit, shaping the mountain’s skyline from far away. It gained fame as a filming location for several Winnetou films, whose dramatic rocky backdrops were shot here. Reached via the old Majstorska cesta road, it rewards hikers with sweeping views over the mountains, sea and islands.
Good to know
Access is via the historic Majstorska cesta; the hike is demanding and partly trail-less, so sturdy footwear is advisable. Early summer and early autumn are best, given the heat and strong winds.
