The imposing round Church of St. Donatus is the unmistakable symbol of Zadar. This pre-Romanesque building from the 9th century rises in the middle of the ancient Roman forum, whose stones were partly reused in its foundations. Thanks to its remarkable acoustics, the church no longer serves for worship but has become a sought-after venue for concerts.
